A Few Words About DaleOwner of Donnelly's on the River
Dale Donnelly Owner....Born in Brockville, Studied Culinary Chef Training at Algonquin College in Ottawa.
Dale finished his schooling with top awards and honours grades in Chef training and won the coveted Chaine des Rotisseurs award for best practical abilities in his advanced year of studies. Dale proceeded to write his government exam afterwards to attain a Red Seal Chef Certification of Qualification and Apprenticeship with Interprovincial Status in 1982. Dale followed up his success at culinary school by being selected to join the 5 star team of chefs at the Constellation Hotel in Toronto. After being given the assignment of broiler chef at the hotels first class restaurant he honed his skills and his mastering of the grill. As a Chef Dale put in numerous hours work each day and saw little of the rest of the world other than travel back and forth to work in what he describes as a concrete jungle. His eventual return to the 1000 islands was imminent...His love of the river and the simpler life was where his heart was at.
Dale returned to the 1000 Islands in 1985 as the Sous Chef, the later Head Chef of the Skyline Hotel. In his role at the Hotel Dale catered numerous banquets and weddings.
Dale continued to work in the area later as Head Chef of the famous Juke box Cafe where he and his former Head Chef Winston Lau teamed up again to provide an uptown Canadian/Cantonese style menu to the Brockville location.
Dale also held positions as the Head Chef ot The Talk of the Town Restaurant in downtown Brockville as well as the General Manager/Head Chef of the Keystorm Pub.
Dale applied and was hired Head Chef/Kitchen Supervisor of the 1000 Islands Casino. He remained in that role for a decade until privatization became imminent.....Dale took it upon himself to become independent and purchased his own restaurant in the quiet village of Mallorytown. Dale operated the restaurant for 5 years and continues to own it however not being finished yet Dale embarked on another restaurant quest and took over operations at the former Mount Airy Resort property also known as Smuggler's Run.... .Not wanting to be compared to others Dale changed the Name and environment to Donnelly's On The River.... a rebranded restaurant with a new Caribbean/Florida style atmosphere with regular live acoustic performances by Spanish and American style musicians. Dale's new venture is a model he developed noting his desire to provide a mid-scale menu along the river with the escapism of the regular day life to have the feel of being on holidays while dining out.
Dale wants his customers to experience a laid back environment and to take their time while dining again and leave the cell phones at home..."Relax at Donnelly's On The River.....You deserve it!"
